The Department of Anatomy has ultra modern facilities that meet all the requirements of undergraduate learning. The Department of Anatomy came to existence with the establishment of Government Medical College udhampur in 2023, under the stewardship of Dr.Vanita Gupta the Professor & HOD of Anatomy, with Dr. Mrityunjay Gupta, Professor of physiology as its founding Principal in 2023.
It has eminent teaching facility supported with audio visual aids to disseminate their knowledge to tech savvy generation of undergraduate students.
Anatomy Department is an important department in any medical institution. It teaches human anatomy which is a basic science subject for medical & paramedical students. It includes gross anatomy, histology, embryology and genetics,which are the four basic sciences forming base for medical education.
Thus, since its Inception year the department is primarily focused on best quality teaching. Its infrastructure facilities, include AV -enabled Lecture theatres, Demonstration rooms, , a Histology Laboratory, and a well-organised Museum. The Anatomy Museum remains open to the undergraduates , in an effort to disseminate knowledge and generate awareness. The departmental library offers exclusive reference books pertaining to Anatomy and related topics .
Our well qualified, experienced team of faculty members regularly attend inter-university conferences, CMEs, workshops and seminars; and contribute to a considerable number of academic publications. They are constantly on the look-out for innovative, integrated teaching methodologies and strive to inculcate ethical codes of conduct and values in our students - such as a deep-seated respect for the cadaver, as part of the AETCOM Module, strictly following the new NMC required CBME curriculum. The department offers a seamless array of learning programs including Foundation Courses, Early Clinical Exposure, Self Directed Learning Methodologies, Integrated Teaching and Learning Sessions as well as Skill Development and Training Modules.

Vision:

  • 1. To provide comprehensive knowledge to the students, of the gross & microscopic structure & development of human body.
  • 2. To provide a basis for understanding the clinical correlation of structures involved.
  • 3. To provide knowledge of anatomical basis for the disease presentation.
  • 4.To clarify basic medical information in the subject of Human Anatomy, Histology, Embryology, Radiological anatomy, Surface marking, Clinical anatomy through quality education, and research to form a cornerstone in the comprehension of clinical sciences and to enable medical students to contribute to health services.

MISSION:

  • This department aims to impart a comprehensive concept of anatomy to the undergraduates, strictly according to the NMC approved CBME curriculum, so as to provide an understanding of the anatomical basis and clinical correlations of diseases, presentation and management, in effort to produce best Indian Medical Graduates.
