The department with well trained staff works tirelessly to ensure safe, adequate and timely
availability of quality blood duly tested and free from transfusion-transmitted infections to the right
patient.
RIGHT BLOOD to the RIGHT PATIENT at the RIGHT TIME:
We are committed to provide patient services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, free of any cost
while adhering to SOPs (standard operating procedures) and GMPs (good manufacturing practices).
In an attempt to promote voluntary non-remunerated blood donation, various blood donation
awareness programs and voluntary blood donation camps are held in far reaches of the area.
The department is actively contributing to the education and training of medical and paramedical
personnel in the field of transfusion medicine.
Mission:
1. To provide extensive patient-centered blood transfusion services while following National
Blood Policy
2. To phase out replacement donation.
3. To promote public health safety by following temporarily deferred blood donors and sero-
reactive blood donors hence enhancing the impact of GMC Udhampur on health care
programs.

To ensure adequate and exemplary blood transfusion services of global quality standards and
achieve academic and research excellence

Existing Facilities:
Whole blood collection- In house as well as in outdoor Voluntary blood donation camps
Blood donor counselling and notification.
TTI (Transfusion Transmitted Infection) testing of collected blood units by ELISA
Immunohaematology laboratory with facilities of blood grouping, Direct Antiglobulin test,
Indirect Antiglobulin test, and serological cross-match using latest gel technology
Therapeutic phlebotomy.
Regular stock update on e-raktkosh portal.
The department has signed a MOU with Command Hospital, Udhampur for timely
availability of blood and blood components to the patients.
